Technical Director, Games R&D
Netflix is seeking an experienced Technical Director to join us in delivering the next generation of video games for a worldwide audience. Through a partnership with other team leaders, the Technical Director will translate the goals of the studios and game vision into both strategic and execution technical plans with a focus on game services related areas including at scale data, metrics, and security needs, influencing the development of technology and our platform to successfully serve our games to our members.This role will report to the Game Studio Technical Director and partner closely with the Game Studio leadership and operations team and the existing Netflix Product and Engineering organizations.ResponsibilitiesWork with Game Studio Technical Director to guide the technical foundation with a focus on game services, data, metrics, privacy, and security and manage the technical roadmaps across multiple projectsAssess related emerging technologies, as well as drive initiatives with both developers and internal department leads. Providing technical guidance from a services perspective throughout the organizationAuditing the technical quality of emerging technologies and integrationsAuditing the technical quality of all major project milestonesIdentifying and mitigating technical risks as it relates to services, data, security, and balancing Netflix company requirements with advocating for excellent game developer needs.Requirements10
years of leadership experience in the AAA, casual, or mobile gaming industryMinimum 2 full project cycles of experience managing at a Technical Director capacity, running a large game as a service project in the gaming industryExperience with defining and leading platform initiativesExtensive experience with a breadth of programming languages and tools as well as with various development methodologies and their applications (e.g. Agile, etc.)Constantly innovate how to improve product quality as well as technical productivityAbility to identify risks early and often and suggest mitigation strategies that are thought through and consider multiple paths to a solutionExceptional communication and leadership skillsPassion for making video games
Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
